About The Position

Assists in the diagnosis, treatment and management of patients with pulmonary disorders. Collects and analyzes sputum, blood and breath specimens to determine levels of oxygen, carbon dioxide and other gases. Also measures the lung capacity of a patient to determine if there is impaired function. Performs all respiratory therapy procedures and cardiac diagnostic procedures throughout the hospital.

Requirements

  • 2 year/Associate Degree
  • Licensed by the State of Kansas as a Respiratory Care Practitioner
  • BLS
  • ACLS
  • NRP

  • Ability to manage stress appropriately
  • Ability to make decisions under pressure
  • Ability to manage anger/fear/hostility/violence of others appropriately
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities

  • Ability to work in areas that are confined and/or crowded
  • Ability to work with potential electrical shock

  • Medium work - Exert up to 50 lbs. force occasionally, and/or up to 10 lbs. constantly.
  • Ability to stand for 1 hour per day

  • Good manual dexterity

  • Clarity of vision: Mid (>20=-<20=)
