About The Position

Under the supervision of the department manager and/or at the request of a physician order, the Respiratory Therapist sets up and operates respiratory care equipment used to diagnose and treat respiratory disease or illness. The role also involves delivering medications to help control respiratory ailments. The position is part-time, 24 hours per week, on a 12-hour day shift at Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital in Darby, Pennsylvania.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Graduate of an AMA-approved respiratory therapy program.
• Current Pennsylvania license in Respiratory Therapy.
• Must be registered by the NBRC.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Provide oxygen therapy competently.
• Perform arterial blood gas sampling competently.
• Recognize changes in patient condition and respond appropriately, including notifying the nurse or physician and initiating CPR.
• Set up and maintain ventilator functions.
• Use pulse oximetry devices appropriately.
• Participate in educating patients and families.
• Set up and operate respiratory care equipment for diagnosis and treatment of respiratory disease or illness.
• Deliver medications to help control respiratory ailments.
