About The Position

Select Specialty Hospital - Akron is a critical illness recovery hospital providing inpatient post-ICU services to chronically and critically ill patients who need extended healing and recovery. Respiratory Therapists provide compassionate respiratory care to patients with critical and complex medical and surgical conditions. The role is full-time on days, with a schedule of 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m., in Akron, Ohio. Compensation is $34.18 to $46.00 per hour, with a $12,000 sign-on bonus.

Requirements

• Must possess an active CRT or RRT credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) or state equivalent.
• Proof of graduation is required: college transcript or diploma preferred, or high school transcript or diploma, or GED.
• Must possess Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the start date.
• Current state licensure is required.
• ACLS is required within six months of hire; agency respiratory therapists must have ACLS by their first shift, and PRN staff must have ACLS upon hire.

Nice To Haves

• One year of related experience is preferred.
• College transcript or diploma is preferred as proof of graduation.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients and recommend an appropriate treatment plan.
• Provide respiratory care to patients with critical and complex medical and surgical conditions.
• Perform insertion and removal of endotracheal tubes.
• Promote continuous quality improvement.
• Teach and counsel patients and families.
