About The Position

Select Specialty Hospital - Akron is a critical illness recovery hospital providing inpatient post-ICU care to chronically and critically ill patients who need extended healing and recovery. Respiratory Therapists provide compassionate respiratory care to patients with critical and complex medical and surgical conditions. The role is based in Akron, Ohio, and is full-time on days, from 7 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Compensation is $34.18 to $46.00 per hour, with a $12,000 sign-on bonus.

Requirements

• Hold an active CRT or RRT credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) or state equivalent.
• Provide proof of graduation: college transcript or diploma (preferred), or high school transcript or diploma, or GED.
• Possess Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the start date.
• Hold current state licensure.
• Obtain ACLS within six months of hire. Agency respiratory therapists must have ACLS before their first shift; PRN staff must have ACLS upon hire.

Nice To Haves

• One year of related experience is preferred.
• College transcript or diploma as proof of graduation is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients and recommend appropriate treatment plans.
• Provide respiratory care to patients with critical and complex medical and surgical conditions.
• Insert and remove endotracheal tubes.
• Promote continuous quality improvement.
• Teach and counsel patients and families.
