About The Position

Under supervision of the department manager and/or upon request of a physician order, the Respiratory Therapist sets up and operates respiratory care equipment used to diagnose and treat respiratory disease or illness. The role also includes delivering medications to assist in controlling respiratory ailments. This is a part-time position of 24 hours per week on a 12-hour day shift at Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital in Darby, Pennsylvania.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Graduate of an AMA-approved respiratory therapy program.
• Current Pennsylvania license in Respiratory Therapy.
• Must be registered by the NBRC.
• BLS certification required.

Responsibilities

• Provide oxygen therapy competently.
• Perform arterial blood gas sampling competently.
• Recognize changes in patient condition and respond appropriately, including notifying the nurse or physician and initiating CPR.
• Set up and maintain ventilator functions.
• Use pulse oximetry devices appropriately.
• Participate in educating patients and families.
• Set up and operate respiratory care equipment used in diagnosis and treatment.
• Deliver medications to assist in controlling respiratory ailments.
