About The Position

The Respiratory Therapist (RCP II) performs respiratory therapeutic and pulmonary diagnostic procedures as ordered by a physician, under the direction and authorization of the medical director and cardiopulmonary director. The role emphasizes assessment, planning, implementation, and documentation of care while considering patients’ age-specific and population-specific needs. In the absence of a supervisor, the therapist may be assigned as Lead RCP and take responsibility for the section or department during the shift.

This full-time position is based at Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston, Maine, and is scheduled for night shifts consisting of 12-hour shifts. A $15,000 sign-on bonus is available for qualified candidates; eligibility and payout terms apply and are discussed during the interview process.

Requirements

• Hold a current State Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license.
• Hold current Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credentials from the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC), or obtain them within three months of hire.
• Hold and maintain current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC) upon hire.
• Hold and maintain current Adult Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification from the AHA or ARC upon hire.
• Hold and maintain current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification from the AHA, or obtain it within 60 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

• Neonatal Resuscitation Program certificate.
• Associate degree or Bachelor of Science degree.
• Two years of acute care experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform respiratory therapeutic procedures as ordered by physicians.
• Perform pulmonary diagnostic procedures as ordered by physicians.
• Assess, plan, implement, and document patient care, accounting for age-specific and population-specific needs.
• When assigned in the absence of a supervisor, serve as Lead RCP and take responsibility for the section or department during the shift.
