About The Position

Southern TN Regional Health System – Lawrenceburg, part of Lifepoint Health, is seeking a Respiratory Therapist to provide respiratory care in support of the hospital’s mission to make communities healthier. The role involves assessing patients, delivering ordered therapies, responding to emergencies, and supporting patients and families with education and resources.

The position also contributes to respiratory-care policy and procedure evaluation, maintains respiratory supplies and medical gas cylinders, and ensures equipment is clean, sterilized, calibrated, and properly maintained.

Requirements

• Associate degree.
• Current Respiratory Therapist licensure to practice in Tennessee.
• Current Registered or Certified Respiratory Therapist credential from the National Board for Respiratory Care.
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification, or obtain it within 90 days of hire.

Nice To Haves

• Three or more years of previous experience in all aspects of cardiopulmonary services.

Responsibilities

• Measure lung capacity and analyze blood samples using a blood gas analyzer.
• Deliver ordered therapy according to the plan of care and assess the patient’s response.
• Monitor and record patient condition and communicate it as appropriate.
• Evaluate respiratory care policies and procedures based on patient outcomes, current research, and best practices.
• Respond to codes and calls for emergent assistance, assess patient condition, and provide appropriate treatment.
• Educate patients and families about the patient’s illness and provide information about community support groups and other resources.
• Monitor, receive, stock, and distribute respiratory care supplies and medical gas cylinders.
• Maintain storage areas at required supply levels and ensure equipment is available.
• Disassemble, clean, and sterilize equipment, and perform preventative maintenance and machine calibration.
