About The Position

AMG Specialty Hospital - Lafayette is seeking a PRN Respiratory Therapist for night shifts. The hospital is a long-term acute care facility specializing in complex medical needs, including respiratory failure requiring ventilation, Vapotherm, high-flow oxygen, BiPAP, CPAP, or nasal cannula. Patients may also need sedation and pain management, pressor management, or cardiac and anti-arrhythmic management. Other conditions treated include complicated infections requiring long-term IV antibiotics and chronic non-healing wounds requiring extensive treatment with wound vacs and frequent dressing changes. The position involves respiratory care in a multidisciplinary, long-term acute care setting. AMG describes its approach as including aggressive clinical and therapeutic interventions and family involvement, with a high staff-to-patient ratio intended to support individualized attention.

Requirements

Completion of an approved respiratory care program.
Active Louisiana Respiratory Therapist license.
Current BLS certification.
Current ACLS certification.
One to three years of related work experience.
Ability to read and communicate effectively in English.

Responsibilities

Provide respiratory care to patients with complex medical needs.
Communicate with physicians, CCO/co-workers, as appropriate, about changes in a patient's clinical condition, including diagnostic study results and symptoms.
Respond quickly and accurately to changes in a patient's condition or response to treatment.
