About The Position

The Respiratory Therapist provides compassionate respiratory care to chronic, critically ill patients at a critical illness recovery hospital offering inpatient post-ICU services. The role includes evaluating patients, recommending treatment plans, and caring for patients with critical and complex medical and surgical conditions. The position is per diem/PRN, based in Middleburg Heights, Ohio, and is scheduled for two 12-hour shifts per week, including at least three weekend shifts every six weeks. Compensation is $51 per hour.

The hospital provides an extensive orientation program. Demonstrated skills and dedication may lead to potential full-time opportunities. Part-time and per-diem employees may be eligible for a 401(k) after reaching 1,000 hours within their first anniversary or a subsequent calendar year.

Requirements

• Possess an active CRT or RRT credential from the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC) or state equivalent.
• Provide proof of graduation: college transcript or diploma (preferred), or high school transcript or diploma, or GED.
• Possess Basic Life Support (BLS) certification by the start date.
• Have current state licensure.
• Have ACLS upon hire; agency respiratory therapists must have ACLS by their first shift.

Nice To Haves

• One year of related experience is preferred.
• College transcript or diploma is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Evaluate patients and recommend an appropriate treatment plan.
• Provide respiratory care to patients with critical and complex medical and surgical conditions.
• Perform insertion and removal of endotracheal tubes.
• Promote continuous quality improvement.
• Teach and counsel patients and families.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
