About The Position

The Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP)-Sleep Disorders Center (SDC) provides comprehensive evaluation and treatment of sleep disorders. This may involve polysomnography, diagnostic and therapeutic services or patient care and education. These services may be provided for both the LLUMC and LLUCH hospitals. Performs other duties as needed.

Requirements

  • Associate's Degree from a two year American Medical Association (AMA) Respiratory Therapy Program as specified by National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC).
  • Current Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Assembly and troubleshooting patient/machine equipment.
  • Preventive maintenance.
  • Calibration of equipment.
  • Proficient at scoring complete polysomnographic recordings in all age-specific groups.
  • Able to read; write legibly; speak in English with professional quality.
  • Able to use computer and software programs necessary to the position.
  • Able to troubleshoot and calibrate patient care equipment.
  • Able to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others.
  • Able to be assertive and consistent in following and/or enforcing policies.
  • Able to work calmly and respond courteously when under pressure.
  • Able to lead, supervise, teach, and collaborate.
  • Able to accept direction.
  • Able to communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone.

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum one year of clinical experience in an American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM) accredited Sleep Disorders Center.
  • Spanish language proficiency.
  • If Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) ineligible, Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) certificate required within eighteen (18) months.
  • If RRT eligible, RRT certificate required within twelve (12) months or RPSGT certificate required within eighteen (18) months.
  • Possession of both RRT and RPSGT certificate.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
