About The Position

The day-to-day activities of the Resin/Colour Technician will include; Receiving all bulk resin and master batch materials into the inventory storage area. Preparing resin and master batch materials for introduction to, or removal from the production process based upon production schedule and ongoing communication with Shift Supervisors. Ensuring a consistent supply of resin and master batch material to the production machine Adjustments to regrind/virgin material mix based upon consumption objectives and with due consideration to impacts on the quality of the finished product. Performing colour changes in accordance with established procedures and completing colour change reports. Ongoing adjustments to colour mix based upon continuous visual and periodic (every 2 hours) colour testing Conducting colour tests and reporting test results Ensuring that all equipment relating to the feeding of materials in the production process remain free of contaminants and foreign coloured materials. Proper storage, maintenance and timely setup of glue machines and flamer equipment under the guidance and assistance of Setup Technicians. Housekeeping – keeping the production and warehouse areas clear of spilled resin Maintenance of resin and master batch inventories, ie: ensuring that materials are protected from potential sources of contamination, are stored in a neat and organized manner, and are clearly and properly labeled. Conducting weekly inventory counts of resins and master batch materials. Daily and weekly scheduled maintenance of hopper filters, hopper magnets and the central vacuum filter Various production related duties may be assigned by the Setup Supervisor. This may often involve assisting the Product Handlers in moving other raw materials to and from the production area. Problem Solving: Maintaining a minimum amount of regrind material by introducing it to the production process in such a manner that it does not adversely affect the process or the finished product. This will involve judgement on the part of the material handler. Various support people, ie: Shift Supervisors, Set Up and Maintenance Technicians and Machine Operators are available to assist in this regard. Making adjustments to the amount of master batch (colour) introduced to the process based upon the results of colour tests, and as required due to changes in regrind/virgin mix or colour/colour mix. Troubleshooting problems with flamers and glue machines under the direction of Set up Technicians. Working with Maintenance and Set Up Technicians to identify and address any other equipment problems relating to the Material Handlers’ areas of responsibility, ie: hoppers, grinders

Requirements

  • Fork Lift Driver certification
  • Specific in-house Material Handler Training
  • Strong mechanical aptitude
  • Ability to operate moderately complex equipment (basic computer and testing equipment)
  • Ability to lift up to 30 kg.
  • Quality Training (Annual GMP/GDP, Food Safety, IFS PACsecure as applicable)
