About The Position

Operates and maintains the Resin System to ensure that the resin raw material used in the production of PET containers meets plant specifications. This role involves operating the resin system using written work instructions, visual management, and a computer interface. The operator will receive and unload trucks and railroad cars into the Resin Handling System, assign and log blender recipes, and maintain blenders. Responsibilities also include grinding defective PET containers, maintaining grinders, and certifying re-grind product for use. The role requires scanning and consuming production tickets, conducting quality inspections, ensuring pumps are operating properly, and performing preventive maintenance on the resin system, including filters. Adherence to Amcor Rigid Packaging safety requirements, timely communication of system problems, and performing housekeeping duties in various areas of the resin systems are also key aspects of this position. Accurate completion of logs, data input, and written records, including quality checks and downtime, is essential. Effective communication with all internal departments is required.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or general education (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
  • Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • A valid forklift certification, which meets OSHA requirements, is required to perform the essential duties of this job.
  • Regularly required to stand or walk for 12 hours.
  • Frequently required to reach with hands and arms, stoop and kneel, and climb stairs.
  • Regularly uses hands to handle and feel product.
  • Regularly required to communicate with other employees and be aware of sounds in the plant.
  • Must frequently lift and/or move 30 pounds.
  • Ability to see close (at 20 inches or less) and distance visions (20 feet or more).
  • Ability to differentiate colors and good peripheral vision.
  • Ability to work extended shift and abnormal hours.

Responsibilities

  • Operates resin system using written work instructions, visual management, and computer interface.

  • Ensures all vacuum and pressure pumps are operating properly.
  • Maintains and performs preventive maintenance on resin system to include all filters.
  • Ensures all tasks are completed in accordance with Amcor Rigid Packaging safety requirements.
  • Communicates system problems and breakdowns to maintenance personnel and supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Performs housekeeping duties in silos, rail sites, truck bays, and all other areas of the resin systems.
  • Accurately completes all logs, data input and written, to include quality checks and downtime.
  • Effectively communicates with all internal departments.
