About The Position
Easterseals is hiring a Residential Counselor for its mental health residential program in Monmouth County. The role supports people living with mental illness and developmental disabilities by helping them address care challenges, achieve measurable outcomes, and access services based on their individual needs. The counselor provides services in accordance with Individual Rehabilitation Plans (IRPs) and Adult Mental Health Rehabilitation Services (AMHRS) standards, supports consumer satisfaction, and maintains timely and accurate documentation in the electronic health record. The listed schedule is Saturday and Sunday, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mental health or human services; or at least one year of college combined with related life or work experience totaling four years; or a high school diploma or GED plus four years of related work or life experience.
- Intermediate computer skills and the ability to learn new computer programs.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Flexibility and compassion when working with consumers.
Responsibilities
- Support consumers in achieving measurable outcomes and addressing new and ongoing care challenges.
- Adhere to Adult Mental Health Rehabilitation Services (AMHRS) standards.
- Respond promptly to consumer complaints and grievances to support consumer and customer satisfaction.
- Educate and monitor consumers regarding medications, observe medication logs, and complete monthly medication audits.
- Coordinate supportive services based on consumer needs.
- Provide services in accordance with Individual Rehabilitation Plans (IRPs).
- Document services accurately and within required timeframes, following policies and procedures and using the electronic health record.
