MH Group Homes - Residential Counselor
About The Position
The Residential Counselor supports individuals living with mental illness and developmental disabilities in a residential setting. The role helps consumers address new and ongoing care challenges, achieve measurable outcomes, and receive supportive services based on their needs. Services must follow Adult Mental Health Rehabilitation Services standards and each consumer’s Individual Rehabilitation Plan. The counselor also supports medication education and monitoring, responds to complaints and grievances, and documents services in the electronic health record within required timeframes. The position is in Monmouth County and is scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in mental health or human services; alternatively, one or more years of college combined with related life or work experience totaling four years; or a high school diploma or GED plus four years of related work or life experience.
- Intermediate computer experience and the ability to learn new computer programs.
- Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Flexibility and compassion when working with consumers.
Responsibilities
- Support consumers in achieving measurable outcomes related to new and ongoing care challenges.
- Adhere to Adult Mental Health Rehabilitation Services (AMHRS) standards.
- Respond to consumer complaints and grievances in a timely manner to promote consumer and customer satisfaction.
- Educate and monitor consumers regarding medications, observe medication logs, and complete monthly medication audits.
- Coordinate supportive services based on consumer needs.
- Provide services in accordance with Individual Rehabilitation Plans (IRPs).
- Document services accurately in the electronic health record within required timeframes and in accordance with policies and procedures.
