About The Position

Wayside Youth & Family Support Network is hiring per-diem Residential Counselors for Young Adult Services in Waltham. The role supports youth and families in a warm, team-focused environment and offers an opportunity to build a career without a college degree. Wayside provides free trainings and CEUs, teamwork, and career development support. The position pays $20.50 per hour. Residential Counselors supervise and engage with youth in activities and daily routines, help them build skills, and collaborate with the staff team to maintain program structure and provide positive role modeling. They help meet residents’ basic needs, including meals, a safe and clean living environment, recreation, and hygiene. The role also includes safe client transportation and medication administration after MAP certification. Wayside provides training in Motivational Interviewing, Courageous Conversations, Trauma Informed Practice, Therapeutic Crisis Intervention, CPR, and First Aid.

Requirements

Valid driver’s license; motor vehicle background record checks will be completed.
High school degree or equivalent.
High-quality communication skills, including the ability to connect with others, be approachable and respectful, and communicate with people at all levels.
Reflective self-awareness.
Ability to manage risk.
Ability to support youth.
Flexibility and creative thinking, including adapting to changing work situations, processes, and procedures.

Responsibilities

Directly supervise and engage with youth/residents in activities and daily routines.
Support skill building for youth/residents through collaborative teamwork.
Participate in training and maintain necessary certifications.
Facilitate recreational activities and work with the staff team to ensure program structure while providing positive role modeling.
Transport clients safely.
Administer medication once MAP certified.
Assist with providing clients’ basic needs, including regular meals, a safe and clean living environment, recreational activities, and appropriate hygiene.
