About The Position

Wayside Youth & Family Support Network is hiring an Overnight Residential Counselor for its Young Adult Programs in Arlington. The role provides intermittent overnight shift coverage when employees are on PTO or sick time. Shifts are 10:30 p.m.–8:30 a.m. or 11:30 p.m.–9:30 a.m. No college degree is necessary. The position involves supervising and engaging with youth and residents, supporting their skill development and daily routines, and helping maintain a safe, structured, and supportive living environment. The employer provides training in several therapeutic approaches and certifications.

Requirements

• Valid driver’s license; motor vehicle background record checks will be completed.
• High school degree or equivalent.
• High-quality communication skills, including the ability to connect with others, be approachable and respectful, and communicate with people at all levels.
• Reflective self-awareness.
• Ability to manage risk.
• Ability to support youth dynamically.
• Flexibility and creative thinking, including adapting to changing work situations, processes, and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Directly supervise and engage with youth and residents in activities and daily routines.
• Support skill building for youth and residents through collaborative teamwork.
• Participate in trainings and maintain necessary certifications.
• Facilitate recreational activities and work with the staff team to maintain program structure and provide positive role modeling.
• Provide safe client transportation and administer medication if MAP certified.
• Help provide clients with basic needs, including regular meals, a safe and clean living environment, recreational activities, and appropriate hygiene.
