About The Position

Wayside Youth & Family Support Network is hiring per-diem Residential Counselors for its Wayside Campus in Framingham. This role involves supervising and engaging with youth and residents in activities and daily routines, supporting skill building through teamwork, and helping maintain a structured, safe, and supportive program environment. Counselors provide positive role modeling, assist with clients’ basic needs, and facilitate recreational activities. Safe client transportation and medication administration are included once the employee is MAP certified. Wayside provides training in Motivational Interviewing, Courageous Conversations, Trauma Informed Practice, Therapeutic Crisis Intervention, CPR, and First Aid. No college degree is necessary.

Requirements

• High school degree or equivalent.
• Valid driver’s license; motor vehicle background record checks will be completed.
• High-quality communication skills, including the ability to connect with others, be approachable and respectful, and communicate with people at all levels.
• Reflective self-awareness.
• Ability to manage risk.
• Ability to support youth dynamically.
• Flexibility and creative thinking, including adapting to changing work situations, processes, and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Directly supervise and engage with youth and residents in activities and daily routines.
• Support skill building for youth and residents through collaborative teamwork.
• Participate in trainings and maintain necessary certifications.
• Facilitate recreational activities for clients.
• Work with the staff team to maintain program structure and provide positive role modeling for youth.
• Transport clients safely.
• Administer medication once MAP certified.
• Help provide clients’ basic needs, including regular meals, a safe and clean living environment, recreational activities, and appropriate hygiene.
