About The Position

Wayside Youth & Family Support Network is hiring per-diem Residential Counselors at its Wayside Campus in Framingham. The role involves supervising and engaging with youth and residents, supporting their skill development, and helping maintain a safe, structured, and supportive residential environment. Counselors work collaboratively with the staff team, provide positive role modeling, and support daily routines, recreational activities, basic needs, and appropriate hygiene. Safe client transportation and medication administration are part of the role once MAP certified. Wayside provides training in several areas, including Motivational Interviewing, Courageous Conversations, Trauma Informed Practice, Therapeutic Crisis Intervention, CPR, and First Aid. A college degree is not required.

Requirements

Valid driver’s license; motor vehicle background record checks will be completed.
High school degree or equivalent.
High-quality communication skills, including approachability, respect, and the ability to communicate with people at all levels.
Reflective self-awareness.
Ability to manage risk.
Ability to support youth dynamically.
Flexibility and creative thinking, including adapting to changing work situations, processes, and procedures.

Responsibilities

Directly supervise and engage with youth and residents in activities and daily routines.
Support skill building for youth and residents through collaborative teamwork.
Participate in trainings and maintain necessary certifications.
Facilitate recreational activities and work with the staff team to maintain program structure.
Provide positive role modeling for youth.
Transport clients safely.
Administer medication once MAP certified.
Help provide basic needs, including regular meals, a safe and clean living environment, recreational activities, and appropriate hygiene.
