About The Position

Schochet is currently seeking a Resident Services Coordinator in Hartford, CT. This role involves making a difference in the lives of families in affordable/low-income housing by working one-on-one with residents to identify needs and coordinate services. The position also includes developing relationships with community partners to bring in programs and resources that educate and engage, and planning events that build community and promote well-being. Schochet is a full-service real estate development and management company committed to providing enriched housing with resident supports. Resident services are an essential part of their property management philosophy, and the Resident Service Coordinators play a valuable role in each property management team. The selected candidate will be one of two RSCs at Shepherd Park.

Requirements

  • BS in Social Work or related field OR 2-3 years’ experience in social services delivery with youth and families.

Responsibilities

  • Connecting residents to services, including intake, education on available services and application procedures, and referrals to community service providers.
  • Addressing service topics such as home management support, financial assistance, counseling (mental health and substance use disorders), insurance, access to public benefits, and food assistance.
  • Following up on referrals from other staff regarding resident issues and concerns, particularly those related to aging in place, support in maintaining housing, conflict resolution, communication, resident safety, and emergency support.
  • Advocating, organizing, and problem-solving to obtain results for residents.
  • Establishing relationships with agencies and service providers in the community.
  • Working with property managers and maintenance to assist residents in crisis or difficult situations.
  • Serving as a liaison between residents and property management staff.
