About The Position

Community of Hope is seeking reliable, friendly, and professional Full-Time Resident Monitors to ensure the safety and welcoming atmosphere of their Short-Term Family Housing program. As essential staff, Resident Monitors are responsible for building security, greeting residents and visitors, and reporting any concerns to the appropriate team members. This role is crucial in supporting the organization's mission to provide healthcare, housing, and community support services to families and individuals in need. The position is located at the Triumph in Southeast DC.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Punctuality and reliability.
  • Ability to utilize computer software such as Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Google Mail.
  • Ability to act responsibly, professionally, and use good judgment under pressure.
  • Ability to write detailed shift and incident reports.
  • Ability to de-ice the front walkway by salting and shoveling when inclement weather occurs.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a residential environment.
  • Experience working with the homeless population.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor community areas (lobby, phone room, exterior) to prevent loitering and conduct rounds throughout the building.
  • Monitor security cameras for activity and address issues as needed.
  • Ensure visitors, volunteers, and agency representatives are signed in and out, and document staff arrivals/departures.
  • Check photo ID of all visitors.
  • Provide traffic control to limit lobby crowding.
  • Complete curfew checks by knocking on unit doors and documenting resident presence, inquiring about children if not present.
  • Email or call Program Director and/or Case Manager regarding outside agency visits.
  • Fill out incident reports for unusual incidents, emergencies, or facility issues and email them immediately.
  • Offer additional assistance to residents as needed or requested, in accordance with ADA regulations, especially during emergencies.
  • Provide building access by screening individuals via call button, checking IDs, and contacting COH staff for escorts.
  • Monitor Closed Circuit TV security footage and report/respond to security violations by notifying SPO, Program Director, or calling emergency services.
