About The Position

Community of Hope is seeking reliable, friendly, and professional Full-Time Resident Monitors for its Short-Term Family Housing program. The role involves ensuring building security, greeting residents and visitors, and reporting concerns to the appropriate team members. This position is essential for maintaining a safe and welcoming environment within the Triumph building in Southeast DC. The organization emphasizes celebrating strengths, acknowledging trauma, embracing diversity, and advocating for equity.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Punctuality and reliability.
  • Ability to utilize computer software such as Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Google Mail.
  • Ability to act responsibly, professionally, and use good judgment under pressure.
  • Ability to write detailed shift and incident reports.
  • Ability to de-ice the front walkway by salting and shoveling during inclement weather.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule as designated by their supervisor, including evenings and weekends and at various Community of Sites.

  • Experience working in a residential environment.
  • Experience working with the homeless population.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor community areas (lobby, phone room, exterior) to prevent loitering and conduct building rounds.
  • Monitor security cameras for activity and address issues as needed.
  • Ensure visitors, volunteers, agency representatives, and residents are signed in and out, documenting staff arrivals and departures.
  • Check for visitor photo IDs and manage lobby traffic.
  • Complete nightly curfew checks by knocking on unit doors and documenting resident presence.
  • Inquire about the whereabouts of children if they are not present during curfew checks and document findings.
  • Email or call the Program Director and/or Case Manager regarding outside agency visits (Police, CFSA, Social Services, probation, parole, case workers, etc.).
  • Complete incident reports for unusual incidents, emergencies, or facility issues and email them immediately to the Program Director or On-Call Supervisor.
  • Offer additional assistance to residents as needed or requested, in accordance with ADA regulations, especially during emergencies.
  • Provide building access by screening individuals via the call button, checking IDs, signing them in, and contacting COH staff for escorts.
  • Monitor Closed Circuit TV security footage and report/respond to security violations by notifying SPO, Program Director, and/or calling emergency services.
