About The Position

Community of Hope is seeking a Part-Time Resident Monitor for their weekend shift (8:00 AM – 4:00 PM on Saturdays and Sundays) to maintain a safe and welcoming environment within their Short-Term Family Housing program. The role involves monitoring building security, greeting residents and visitors, and reporting concerns to staff. This position is located at The Triumph in Southeast DC.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Punctuality and reliability.
  • Ability to utilize computer software such as Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Google Mail.
  • Ability to act responsibly, professionally, and use good judgment under pressure.
  • Ability to write shift and incident reports in detail.
  • Ability to de-ice the front walkway by salting and shoveling the front area when inclement weather occurs.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule as designated by their supervisor, including evenings and weekends and at various Community of Sites.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors community areas within the building, including the lobby, phone room, and exterior areas, to prevent loitering and makes rounds throughout the building.
  • Monitors security cameras for activity in and around the building and addresses issues as needed.
  • Ensures visitors, volunteers, outside agency representatives, and residents are signed in and out, documenting staff arrivals and departures in the shift log.
  • Checks for photo ID of all visitors and provides traffic control to limit crowding in the lobby.
  • Completes curfew checks by knocking on unit doors and documenting who is present, inquiring about the whereabouts of children if they are not present.
  • Emails and/or calls the Program Director and/or Case Manager regarding outside agency visits (Police, CFSA, Social Services, probation and parole, case workers, etc.).
  • Fills out incident reports to document unusual incidents involving residents, facility issues, fire, rescue, and other emergencies, and emails the report to the Program Director or On-Call Supervisor immediately after the incident is controlled.
  • Offers additional assistance to residents as needed or requested, in accordance with Americans with Disabilities Act regulations, at all times and during emergencies.
  • Provides access to the building by screening individuals who ring the call button, processing visitors by checking their ID, having them sign in, and contacting appropriate COH staff for escort.
  • Monitors Closed Circuit TV security footage and reports and responds immediately to suspected or apparent security violations by notifying SPO and Program Director and/or calling emergency services.
