About The Position

Community of Hope is seeking Part-Time Resident Monitors for weekend shifts (4:00 PM – 12:00 AM, Saturdays and Sundays) to help maintain a safe and welcoming environment within our Short-Term Family Housing program. The role involves monitoring building security, greeting residents and visitors, and reporting concerns to appropriate staff. This position is located at The Bridge at Girard Street in Northwest DC.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Punctuality and reliability.
  • Ability to utilize computer software such as Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Google Mail.
  • Ability to act responsibly, professionally, and use good judgment under pressure.
  • Ability to write shift and incident reports in detail.
  • Ability to de-ice the front walkway by salting and shoveling the front area when inclement weather occurs.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule as designated by their supervisor, including evenings and weekends and at various Community of Sites.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor community areas within the building, including the lobby, phone room, and exterior areas, to prevent loitering and make rounds throughout the building.
  • Monitor security cameras for activity in and around the building and address issues as needed.
  • Ensure visitors, volunteers, outside agency representatives, and residents are signed in and out, documenting their arrivals and departures in the shift log.
  • Check photo ID of all visitors and provide traffic control to limit crowding in the lobby.
  • Complete curfew checks each night by knocking on unit doors and documenting who is present. Inquire about the whereabouts of children if they are not present and document this information.
  • Email and/or call the Program Director and/or Case Manager regarding outside agency visits (Police, CFSA, Social Services, probation and parole, case workers, etc.).
  • Fill out incident reports to document unusual and difficult incidents involving resident or facility issues, fire, rescue, and other emergencies, and email the report to the Program Director or On-Call Supervisor immediately after the incident is controlled.
  • Offer additional assistance to residents as needed or requested by the resident or staff, in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act regulations, at all times and during emergencies.
  • Provide access to the building by screening individuals who ring the call button, processing visitors by checking their ID, having them sign in, and contacting the appropriate COH staff to escort the visitor.
  • Monitor Closed Circuit TV security footage and report and respond immediately to all suspected or apparent security violations by notifying SPO and Program Director and/or calling emergency services.
