About The Position

Community of Hope is seeking a Part-Time Resident Monitor for weekend shifts (8:00 AM – 4:00 PM on Saturdays and Sundays) to help maintain a safe and welcoming environment within their Short-Term Family Housing program. The role involves monitoring building security, greeting residents and visitors, and reporting concerns to appropriate staff. This position is located at The Triumph in Southeast DC.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Punctuality and reliability.
  • Ability to utilize computer software such as Microsoft Windows, Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, Google Mail.
  • Ability to act responsibly, professionally, and use good judgment under pressure.
  • Ability to write shift and incident reports in detail.
  • Ability to de-ice the front walkway by salting and shoveling the front area when inclement weather occurs.
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule as designated by their supervisor, including evenings and weekends and at various Community of Sites.

Responsibilities

  • Monitors community areas within the building, including the lobby, phone room, and exterior areas, to prevent loitering and makes rounds throughout the building.
  • Monitors security cameras for activity in and around the building and addresses issues as needed.
  • Ensures visitors, volunteers, outside agency representatives, and residents are signed in and out, documenting in the shift log.
  • Checks photo ID of all visitors.
  • Provides traffic control to limit crowding in the lobby.
  • Completes curfew checks by knocking on unit doors and documenting residents.
  • Inquires about the whereabouts of children if they are not present during curfew checks and documents this information.
  • Emails and/or calls the Program Director and/or Case Manager regarding outside agency visits.
  • Fills out incident reports to document unusual incidents involving residents, facility issues, fire, rescue, and other emergencies.
  • Offers additional assistance to residents as needed or requested, in accordance with ADA regulations.
  • Provides access to the building by screening individuals who ring the call button.
  • Processes visitors by checking their ID, having them sign in, and contacting appropriate staff for escort.
  • Monitors Closed Circuit TV security footage and reports/responds to security violations by notifying SPO and Program Director and/or calling emergency services.
