The residency program is essential to the academic mission of the School of Health Professions and ensures UTSW remains a leader in Prosthetic-Orthotic education. Residency training is a requirement for Prosthetics-Orthotics graduates' certification. Prosthetics-Orthotics residents provide direct patient care and fabrication under the supervision of a P-O clinician. This involves seeing patients in outpatient clinics and University hospitals. Residents also increase the volume of patients that can be served in the Prosthetics-Orthotics clinic.
