About The Position

Aspire Rural Health System is hiring a Resident Care Med Tech for its Resident Care department at The Heartlands in Marlette, Michigan. This full-time, day-shift role supports older adults, including residents with dementia, by providing direct care, monitoring health, administering medications, and helping maintain a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic community environment. The position also involves documenting resident care and incidents, supporting residents’ daily needs and activities, and contributing to staff training and coverage coordination.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Current CPR and First Aid certificate.
Genuine desire to assist older adults with dementia.

Responsibilities

Provide resident care and monitor and assess residents’ medical conditions; report changes to the Resident Care Manager or Director.
Build and maintain relationships with residents through regular interaction, encouragement, and support.
Serve meals, snacks, and beverages, and assist residents with eating when needed.
Perform housekeeping duties within the community.
Assist residents with organized activities.
Maintain resident records through regular documentation.
Respect residents’ comfort and privacy and maintain confidentiality.
Maintain knowledge of dementia care, safe lifting and transferring techniques, infection control, disease prevention, and emergency preparedness.
Administer and document medications according to the six rights of medication administration and AFC regulations; monitor for medication side effects; maintain and clean the medication cart; dispose of medications; and maintain accurate medication counts.
Monitor residents’ vital signs as needed.
Document resident incidents, errors, or accidents and report them to the Resident Care Manager or Director.
Take call-off phone calls and assist in finding coverage when needed.
Assist in training new employees.
Ensure company standards are upheld by all staff.
Follow each resident’s care plan and physician orders.
Maintain a safe, comfortable, and therapeutic environment for residents and their families.
