Modern Family Law is seeking 3Ls and recent graduates registered for the February or July 2027 Bar exam to participate in its Residency Program at an office in Denver, Colorado Springs, or Fort Collins. The role is hybrid and requires candidates to sit for the Colorado Bar; UBE score transfer is not accepted. Residents must plan to live within a reasonable commute of their office. After the Bar exam, residents receive training in substantive family law and courtroom advocacy, with mentorship from the MFL Learning & Development department and legal teams. The program is intended to prepare participants to transition to an Associate Attorney position at MFL after passing the Bar. The firm describes its setting as remote-first, with brick-and-mortar space available and in-person attendance as required by courts and clients. Associate Attorneys have a 100-hour monthly billable requirement and direct client contact and case-management responsibilities in matters including divorce, child custody, and financial support. The role offers opportunities to develop litigation skills, including serving as first chair early in a career, and provides access to technology for caseload and communication management, ongoing learning and development, and transparent advancement and leadership tracks. The Resident salary is $66,560. The Associate Attorney starting base salary is $130,000, with total possible annual earnings of $152,200. The stated salary range is $66,560–$152,200; actual pay may vary based on experience, location, and other job-related factors permitted by law. Candidates are expected to manage multiple responsibilities in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment with attention to detail; work respectfully as part of a team; show eagerness to learn and incorporate feedback; complete training and develop client-conversion skills; and proactively study, ask questions, complete assignments, and prepare to handle client matters from start to finish after residency. The role requires a Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school, registration for the February or July 2027 Bar exam, a passing MPRE score before sitting for the Bar, and timely submission and approval of the State Bar Character & Fitness application. Candidates must submit a cover letter, law school transcript, and responses to the candidate questionnaire. Family Law Clinic and Mock Trial experience are advantageous. Full-time employees are eligible for health insurance, including an optional HSA; short- and long-term disability; dental, vision, and life insurance; healthcare and dependent-care flexible spending accounts; a 401(k); vacation and sick time; and an employee assistance program. Additional voluntary programs include accident, life, disability, long-term care, critical illness and cancer, and pet insurance. Commuter and transit programs may be available in certain markets. Work from anywhere is available after six months. Candidates and incumbents are expected to perform assigned duties with or without reasonable accommodations; anyone requiring an accommodation should advise the Director of People Operations in advance.
