About The Position

Modern Family Law is seeking 3Ls and recent graduates who will sit for the February 2027 or July 2027 Bar exam to participate in MFL Academy’s Residency Program in an Austin, Dallas, or San Antonio, Texas office. The position is hybrid, and applicants must sit for the Bar and plan to reside in the state where they are applying. After taking the Bar exam, Residency participants receive training in substantive family law and courtroom advocacy, with mentorship from the MFL Learning & Development department and legal teams. The program is intended to help Residents transition to an MFL Associate Attorney position upon passing the Bar. Residents are expected to learn and develop the skills needed to manage client matters from start to finish. The role involves training in client conversion and preparation to handle family law matters, including divorce, child custody, and financial support. As an Associate Attorney, the role offers direct client contact and case management, opportunities to develop litigation skills and serve as first chair early in a career, a 100-hour monthly billable requirement, ongoing learning and development, and transparent advancement and leadership opportunities. The Resident salary is $72,800. The stated Associate Attorney starting base salary is $115,000, with total possible annual earnings of $138,700. The listed salary range is $72,800–$138,700; actual pay may vary based on experience, location, billable-hour expectations, and other job-related factors permitted by law. Full-time employees are eligible for health insurance with an optional HSA, short- and long-term disability, dental and vision coverage, life insurance, healthcare and dependent-care flexible spending accounts, a 401(k), vacation, sick time, and an employee assistance program. Additional voluntary programs and commuter and transit programs may be available. Work from anywhere is available after six months for eligible employees. Candidates must submit a cover letter, law school transcript, and responses to the candidate questionnaire. Candidates and incumbents are expected to perform assigned duties with or without reasonable accommodations; accommodation requests should be directed to the Director of People Operations in advance.
