•$72,800 - $138,700•Hybrid

About The Position

Modern Family Law is seeking 3L students and recent graduates registered for the February 2027 or July 2027 Bar exam to join MFL Academy’s Residency Program in Austin, Dallas, or San Antonio, Texas. The role is hybrid and requires candidates to sit for the Bar and plan to reside in the state where they are applying. After taking the Bar exam, residents receive training in substantive family law and courtroom advocacy, with mentorship from the MFL Learning & Development department and legal teams. The program is intended to support a transition to an Associate Attorney position after the candidate passes the Bar. Resident compensation is $72,800. Associate Attorneys have a starting base salary of $115,000 and possible total annual earnings of $138,700. The firm describes its setting as remote-first, with brick-and-mortar space available and in-person attendance as required by courts and clients. Associate Attorneys have a 100-hour monthly billable-hours requirement, direct client contact, and case-management responsibilities involving matters such as divorce, child custody, and financial support. The role offers opportunities to develop litigation skills, including serving as first chair early in a career, use of technology for caseload and communication management, ongoing learning and development, and transparent advancement tracks and leadership opportunities. Candidates should be prepared to learn and incorporate feedback, complete training, develop client-conversion skills, and build the confidence and capability to handle client matters from start to finish upon completing the Residency. The position requires a Juris Doctor from an ABA-accredited law school and registration for an upcoming February or July Bar exam. Candidates must attain a passing MPRE score before sitting for the Bar and timely submit a Character & Fitness application for State Bar approval. Applicants must submit a cover letter, law school transcript, and responses to the candidate questionnaire. Family Law Clinic and Mock Trial experience are pluses. The firm states that candidates and incumbents are expected to perform assigned duties with or without reasonable accommodation. Anyone requiring an accommodation should advise the Director of People Operations in advance. Salary is adjusted based on experience, location, billable-hour expectations, and other job-related factors permitted by law. Full-time employees are eligible for the listed benefits. Work from Anywhere eligibility begins after six months.
