About The Position

Resident Assistants are an essential part of the wellness team, providing basic personal assistance to residents to help them maintain functional independence and psychosocial wellness under the direction and supervision of an RN or LPN. At American House, the Resident Assistant supports seniors’ daily care needs, enriches their lives, and helps create a safe, warm, and welcoming environment. The role also supports community activities and builds meaningful relationships with residents.

Requirements

• Passion for serving seniors and a compassionate, patient approach.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Previous caregiving, senior living, or healthcare experience.
• Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 25–50 lbs as needed for resident care.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility.
• Monitor residents for changes in condition and report observations to leadership.
• Encourage resident engagement in activities, programs, and social events.
• Follow individualized care plans to provide person-centered care.
• Maintain clean, safe, and organized resident apartments and common areas.
• Support residents with meals, hydration, and light housekeeping.
• Build positive, respectful relationships with residents, families, and team members.
• Support new resident orientation and help new residents feel welcome in the community.
