About The Position

The Long Term Care (LTC) Resident Assistant, Medication Aide (RAMA) provides care and services to residents, including medication assistance, healthcare services, help with activities of daily living, and other assigned duties. The role is responsible for performing these duties in a caring, safe, and efficient manner and in accordance with location standards and procedures. This position is scheduled for 24 hours per week, working 8-hour night shifts.

Requirements

Complete and maintain the assigned medication administration training program and competencies according to state guidelines prior to hire.
Meet the minimum state age requirement if working at a facility that uses a lift to move residents.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or equivalent preferred.

Responsibilities

Assist residents with self-administration of medications and, with proper training, administer medications.
Help residents maintain a proper, clean appearance, including bathing and personal hygiene.
Assist residents with toileting, dressing, and undressing.
Assist residents with transferring, repositioning, and walking.
Accurately obtain vital signs and report changes in residents’ health status.
Follow OSHA and CDC guidelines and aseptic cleaning techniques to minimize infections, including precautions for bloodborne pathogens.
Use chemicals safely and follow SDS guidelines in the event of exposure.
Help prepare and serve nutritious, appealing meals and snacks in accordance with orders, standards, and regulations.
Fold, hang, and distribute clean linens and personal clothing.
Prepare and launder soiled linens and clothing.
Clean residents’ rooms and bathrooms, work areas, and other public areas.
Participate in community involvement at the location and work with volunteers.
