About The Position

Resident Assistants are an essential part of American House’s wellness team. Under the direction and supervision of an RN or LPN, they provide basic personal assistance to residents to help maintain functional independence and psychosocial wellness. The role supports seniors’ daily care needs and community activities while fostering a safe, warm, and welcoming environment. Resident Assistants build meaningful, respectful relationships with residents, families, and colleagues and help residents live with dignity, comfort, and independence.

Requirements

• Passion for serving seniors and a compassionate, patient approach.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
• Previous caregiving, senior living, or healthcare experience.
• Ability to lift, push, or pull 25–50 pounds as needed for resident care.

Responsibilities

• Assist residents with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility.
• Monitor residents for changes in condition and report observations to leadership.
• Encourage resident engagement in activities, programs, and social events.
• Follow individualized care plans to provide person-centered care.
• Maintain clean, safe, and organized resident apartments and common areas.
• Support residents with meals, hydration, and light housekeeping.
• Build positive, respectful relationships with residents, families, and team members.
• Support new resident orientation and help new residents feel welcome in the community.
