The Dean’s Office is the central administrative unit that provides leadership to Cummings School of Veterinary Medicine. Cummings School provides DVM, master’s, and PhD degrees, and advanced clinical training programs. The Cummings School Veterinary Group (CSVG) is comprised of 7 teaching hospitals, clinics, and diagnostic laboratories. The CVSG supports the education and research missions of the school, as well as providing excellent patient care. With an annual patient caseload of ~100,000, the CVSG serves clients from across New England and is the primary clinical training environment for veterinary students, interns, and residents. The Foster Hospital for Small Animals (FHSA) and the Hospital for Large Animals (HLA) in North Grafton, MA, provide state-of-the-art, 24-hour emergency and multi-specialty care for small animals (FHSA) and large animals (HLA). They are the two largest hospitals in the CSVG. Tufts Veterinary Field Service provides ambulatory care for large animals in Connecticut, Rhode Island, and Massachusetts, and is the largest practice of its type in New England. The Lerner Spay and Neuter Clinic provides support for shelters and rescue societies. Tufts at Tech provides care for underserved populations in a partnership with Worcester Technical High School. Tufts Wildlife Clinic provides care of native wildlife species of New England. Cummings Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory provides services primarily for internal clients, but also serves external clients. Combined, approximately 60 residents pursue specialty clinical training under the supervision of approved specialty training programs.
