About The Position

An exciting opportunity exists for an outstanding early career scholar to join the Faculty of Law at Monash University. The Monash Law Faculty, established over 60 years ago, has a pioneering spirit and a deep commitment to access to justice. The Research Fellow will be based in the Warren Centre for Civil Justice and will work on the ARC Discovery Project 'Redesigning Digital Justice'. This project focuses on improving the design methods and technologies used in online hearings by bringing advances in human-computer interaction to online justice systems. The aim is to center the needs and experiences of litigants in designing effective systems and processes, developing design principles, methods, and technologies for online hearings. This work addresses the challenge of creating systems that are consistent with legal standards, acceptable to justice institutions, and inclusive of stakeholders, particularly people with disabilities.

Requirements

  • A degree in law.
  • A doctoral qualification in a relevant discipline area (e.g., law, social science, sociology) or equivalent qualifications or research experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in civil justice research, particularly in relation to self-represented litigants and/or technology in courts and tribunals.

Nice To Haves

  • Qualitative research experience.
  • Experience in co-production, co-design, human-centred design, or participatory research methods.
  • Legal practising experience relevant to civil justice, particularly in connection with court and/or tribunal hearings.

Responsibilities
