An exciting opportunity exists for a Research Fellow to join the School of Physics and Astronomy at Monash University. This position is an exciting opportunity to join the team to work on the astrophysics of transients. This will include research related to searches for r-process element production in two different astrophysical sites: 1) kilonovae produced by neutron star mergers, and 2) collapsars produced by rapidly rotating massive stars that collapse and launch outflows rich in neutrons. The research fellow will be expected to connect to the broader activities of the Monash observational transient group, the national OzGrav Centre of Excellence transients working group, and international collaborators in supernova physics, stellar evolution, nucleosynthesis, and multi-messenger astronomy.
