Research Fellow

LUNDQUIST INSTITUTE FOR BIOMEDICAL INNOVATION AT HARBOR-UCLA•Torrance, CA
•$75,000 - $90,000•Onsite

About The Position

The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will conduct basic and translational research investigating the mechanisms regulating vascular permeability during sepsis. The research will focus on endothelial cell responses to physiological shear stress and signaling pathways associated with vascular leakage. The Fellow will conduct experiments, analyze and interpret data, prepare manuscripts and figures for publication, and present research findings in laboratory and scientific meetings.

Requirements

  • PhD in a relevant biomedical/biological science discipline
  • Research experience in endothelial biology, vascular biology, sepsis, or related field
  • Experience with cell culture and molecular biology techniques
  • Experience analyzing and interpreting experimental data
  • Ability to communicate research findings effectively

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with fluid shear stress models
  • Experience with vascular permeability assays
  • Experience with vascular organoids
  • Experience with animal models
  • Experience with ECIS
  • Prior peer-reviewed publications

Responsibilities

  • Perform experiments using vascular endothelial cell monolayers under shear stress conditions to investigate vascular leak in sepsis.
  • Perform real-time measurements of endothelial barrier function and permeability using Electrical Cell-Substrate Impedance Sensing (ECIS).
  • Perform molecular biology techniques, including Western blotting, ChIP assays, cell culture, and analysis of signaling pathways.
  • Maintain animal colonies and perform permeability studies
  • Use human blood vessel organoids to investigate vascular permeability pathways
  • Prepare research figures and manuscripts for publication.
  • Present research findings in laboratory meetings and scientific forums.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support the research program and organizational needs.
