Colossal is seeking a cell or developmental biologist interested in manipulating avian primordial germ cells. The role works closely with other lab team members to develop and improve protocols for avian primordial germ cell culture and reintroduction into embryos using advanced technologies. The position is based in Dallas, Texas, and relocation assistance is available. Some international travel may be required. The successful candidate will test cell culture conditions and work with avian embryos, primordial germ cells, and related laboratory methods. The role also includes contributing to project milestones, attending lab meetings, and preparing project progress reports and presentations. Strong organization and careful laboratory record maintenance are important.

  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Creative problem-solving skills.
  • BA, BS, MA, or MS in biological sciences, developmental biology, bioengineering, molecular biology, genetics, or a related science field.

Responsibilities

  • Test novel cell culture conditions; sort, screen, and expand avian primordial germ cells using established protocols and newly developed approaches.
  • Collect blood and tissue from avian embryos using a dissection microscope for cell line derivation.
  • Inject primordial germ cells into surrogate embryos using a micropipette under a microscope.
