About The Position

This position is funded by the Canada Summer Job Grant. The Research Assistant supports Goodwill’s mission by collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data to generate evidence-based insights that strengthen community partnerships, improve employment outcomes, and support strategic decision-making. This role contributes to research and evaluation projects by gathering public and internal data, engaging stakeholders through surveys and interviews, and helping measure program and community impact. Requirements

  • Enthusiastic attitude: excited to work with other people and teams.

  • Problem solving: finding solutions to problems, being accurate, and using simple math i.e. counting, adding and subtraction.
  • Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act for the duration of the employment. Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment and be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.
  • Between 15-30 years of age at the start of employment.
  • Previous or current post-secondary education in social sciences, business, community development, public policy, research, or related field.
  • Has experience in research, program evaluation, impact measurement, or community development.
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative data collection skills including surveys, interviews, and analysis.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Excellent writing, presentation, and stakeholder communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and maintain confidentiality.

Nice To Haves

  • Some experience with dashboards, CRM systems, or Power BI.
  • Knowledge of employment services, nonprofit, or social impact sectors.

Responsibilities

  • Support research and evaluation projects through the collection, analysis, and interpretation of public data, internal data, and stakeholder feedback.
  • Gather and synthesize information from public sources, sector reports, labour market trends, and community data to identify emerging needs, opportunities, and strategic priorities.
  • Conduct interviews, focus groups, surveys, and other engagement activities to collect qualitative insights from stakeholders, partners, employees, and individuals with lived experience.
  • Assist in the design, implementation, and administration of evaluation tools such as surveys, questionnaires, dashboards, and feedback mechanisms.
  • Participate in the evaluation of program, employment, partnership, and community outcomes through data analysis, trend identification, to support impact measurement.
  • Contribute to the development of evidence-based strategies that strengthen organizational impact, partnerships, and future growth opportunities.
