Repair Design Intern – Aftermarket Sustainment Engineering (Summer 2027) (Onsite)
About The Position
RTX, the world's largest aerospace and defense company, is seeking a Repair Design Intern for its Pratt & Whitney division. This internship offers an exceptional foundation to work on complex problems, advance skills, and contribute to a safer, more connected world. Pratt & Whitney is a world leader in aircraft engines and auxiliary power systems, with over 100 years of revolutionizing modern flight. The intern will be part of a multi-discipline Integrated Product Team (IPT) focused on establishing repair design requirements to ensure repairs are safe, durable, and meet OEM quality standards. The role involves researching component operating environments and functionality, developing strategies to return damaged parts to service, and creating technical documents outlining engineering requirements for repairs. The intern will also participate in prototyping new repairs and assist in ensuring engineering tasks are completed on schedule and within budget. This internship program aims to help interns develop an understanding of the aerospace industry, the company, and its operations.
Requirements
- Must be pursuing a Bachelor’s or Advanced degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering and actively enrolled through completion of the internship session.
- Must have a minimum of 60 hours of credit by the start of the internship session.
- Experience using computer aided design (CAD) software such as Unigraphics/NX, or equivalent 3D modeling software.
- Minimum 3.0 Cumulative GPA
- Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.

Responsibilities
- Part of a multi-discipline Integrated Product Team [IPT] to establish repair design requirements and ensure repairs are safe, durable, and meet the quality requirements of the Original Engineering Manufactured (OEM) parts.
- Assist in researching operating environments and functionality of components, their interactions with mating parts, and develop strategies which will return damaged parts back to service.
- Assist in Creating technical documents that will provide engineering requirements for repairs, including a high-level sequence of operations forming the basis for manufacturing operation sheets.
- Participate in the prototyping of new repairs as needed.
- Assist in ensuring engineering tasks are accomplished on schedule and within budget to the prescribed work scope.
