About The Position

This position is part of the Engineering Development Program (EDP) at RTX, a global leader in aerospace and defense. The EDP program offers participants three to four rotations to build technical breadth and leadership abilities. Pratt & Whitney, a world leader in aircraft engines, is seeking individuals to join their team and help shape the future of aerospace and defense. The role involves establishing repair design requirements for aftermarket sustainment engineering, ensuring repairs are safe, durable, and meet OEM quality standards. Responsibilities include researching component functionality and environments, developing repair strategies, and creating technical documents for repair engineering requirements. The position also involves participating in repair prototyping and ensuring engineering tasks are completed on schedule and within budget.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) major obtained by start date.
  • Experience with Computer Added Design software such as Unigraphics/NX, or equivalent 3D modeling software.
  • Minimum Cumulative GPA of 3.0
  • Experience may be obtained through on-the-job experience, research, coursework, or projects.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Responsibilities

  • Establish repair design requirements and ensure repairs are safe, durable, and meet the quality requirements of the Original Engineering Manufactured (OEM) parts.
  • Research operating environments and functionality of components, their interactions with mating parts, and develop strategies which will return damaged parts back to service.
  • Create technical documents that will provide engineering requirements for repairs, including a high-level sequence of operations forming the basis for manufacturing operation sheets.
  • Participate in the prototyping of new repairs as needed.
  • Ensure engineering tasks are accomplished on schedule and within budget to the prescribed work scope.
