About The Position

The Rental Technician I provides high-quality equipment repair service to respond to customer needs in a positive, caring, and timely manner and to ensure maximum value for work performed. The role completes assigned jobs in accordance with Caterpillar Equipment Repair Labor Guidelines while maintaining quality and safety. It involves equipment component repair, inspection and assembly, accurate job documentation, parts and core returns, and warranty ECM downloads. The position requires up to 10% travel and is considered safety sensitive.

Requirements

Specific CAT product-line knowledge of natural gas engines, electrical, electronic, and mechanical systems and components, including Preventative Maintenance Services.
Basic knowledge of gas/diesel engines and EPG systems and troubleshooting.
Proficiency using basic hand tools, air tools, precision measuring tools and instruments, laptops, diagnostic software, and cranes and rigging equipment.
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
1–3 years of related experience.
Successfully complete the Work Steps assessment.
Must be certified before operating a forklift and/or man lift.

Nice To Haves

Associate’s degree or certificate in diesel technology or a similar mechanical discipline.

Responsibilities

Complete assigned jobs and tasks within Caterpillar Equipment Repair Labor Guidelines without sacrificing quality or safety.
Work safely and follow all WCAT safety policies and procedures.
Accurately and promptly complete related paperwork and use required databases to complete jobs, including work orders, parts orders, JSA, DBS, SIMS, SIS web, and STW.
Follow contamination control and HAZMAT rules and regulations.
Remove and install parts; disassemble and assemble components; and clean and inspect assemblies with minimal supervision.
Understand and apply Cat reusability guidelines.
Submit parts and core returns promptly with appropriate documentation.
Perform warranty downloads of ECM.
Provide accurate quotes.
