About The Position

SAIC is seeking Part-time Remote Pilot Operator (RPO) candidates to join the Controller Training Solutions (CTS) team at the FAA Academy in Oklahoma City, OK. This role supports air traffic controller training services for the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The RPO simulates pilots and other controllers in an Air Traffic Controller training simulator. They will operate a simulated radar display and voice communication system to mimic pilot actions and communications from remote ATC facilities during training exercises. Responsibilities include receiving voice commands from students, inputting data into the automated system, translating displayed information into ATC terminology, and responding to students using proper phraseology. The candidate must complete required certifications, including a classroom test on airspace and procedures and a lab performance evaluation as a Remote Pilot Operator.

Requirements

• Must be able to complete required certifications: Classroom (pass test on airspace and procedures) and Lab (perform as a Remote Pilot Operator on all positions).

Responsibilities

• Operate a simulated radar display and voice communication system to simulate the actions and communication of pilots and remote ATC facilities during medium and high-fidelity training exercises.
• Receive voice commands from students.
• Input proper entries into the automated system to simulate pilot actions.
• Translate displayed information into appropriate ATC terminology.
• Respond to the student via the VCS utilizing proper phraseology.
• Complete required certifications: Classroom (pass test on airspace and procedures) and Lab (perform as a Remote Pilot Operator on all positions).
