About The Position

The Remote Lead Housekeeper performs housekeeping duties and helps direct employees providing industrial housekeeping services. The role includes a variety of cleaning projects and services to maintain the cleanliness, efficiency, and livability of commercial and industrial facilities, as well as operating and directing activities at a commissary facility. This position has supervisory responsibilities and may also be assigned as a day or night janitor, with duties varying accordingly. Other duties pertinent to the department or unit’s success may be assigned. The position is based in a remote camp setting. Employees must be able to travel by plane and/or bus to remote camps, live in dormitory-style accommodations, and meet camp cleanliness requirements. Work takes place indoors and outdoors, with frequent exposure to arctic conditions and moderate to loud noise. The role involves standing, walking, climbing, pushing, pulling, using hands and arms, stooping, kneeling, and crouching; occasional exposure to fumes or airborne particles and possible exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals. Employees must be able to lift and/or move up to 28 pounds and remain on their feet for 12 hours per shift during the scheduled rotation.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED equivalent.
At least one year of experience demonstrating working knowledge of commercial cleaning equipment and industrial cleaning processes.
At least one year of commercial housekeeping experience.
At least one year of verifiable supervisory experience in housekeeping, janitorial work, or the hospitality industry.
Basic skills operating Microsoft Office applications.
Must pass applicable pre-employment contract requirements, which may include a drug test, physical and fit-for-duty assessment, and hearing test. Applicants not located near a testing facility are responsible for travel costs to the nearest testing facility.
Ability to cooperate and work as part of a team with fellow employees, customers, and clients.
Ability to make decisions with little to no supervision.
Ability to remain on one’s feet for 12 hours per shift during the scheduled rotation.
Ability to live in dormitory-style settings and meet remote camp cleanliness requirements.
Ability to speak, understand, read, and write English.
Must meet and adhere to company and client safety guidelines and regulations.
Ability to travel by plane and/or bus to remote camps.
Ability to perform the physical activities described, including lifting and/or moving up to 28 pounds.

Nice To Haves

Valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record for the past three years to be eligible under NMS’ vehicle insurance policy.

Responsibilities

Perform all duties required of a housekeeper or other assigned employee and meet the obligations of assigned employees.
Help direct and guide assigned housekeeping and janitorial employees.
Help train new staff and provide ongoing training to existing staff.
Regularly conduct, replace, and disperse assigned inventories.
Conduct regular inspections to maintain the quality of services provided.
Coordinate equipment care and maintenance.
Help conduct safety meetings and ensure daily operations comply with company and client safety requirements.
Ensure staff meet quality standards and work procedures.
Resolve minor maintenance issues or client emergencies, or take steps to address them permanently.
Assist employees in resolving work-related difficulties.
Identify and resolve site safety hazards or report them appropriately.
Notify a supervisor when safety and sanitation standards are not being met.
Operate and direct activities at a commissary facility.
Perform other duties pertinent to the department or unit’s success as assigned.
