About The Position

Petco Veterinary Services offers relief veterinarians shifts in Vetco Vaccination Clinics and Vetco Total Care full-service veterinary hospitals. Flexible online scheduling lets veterinarians choose shifts that fit their lifestyle, with no minimum or maximum number of shifts and weekday and weekend hours available. Veterinarians set their own rate for each shift, may continue practice activities outside Petco shifts, and pay no agency fees. An appointment-based model helps manage patient flow, while trained staff handle operations so veterinarians can focus on care. Relief veterinarians can work in vaccination clinics offering basic wellness checks, vaccinations, heartworm testing, and microchip placement, or in full-service hospitals providing preventive care, diagnostic workups, outpatient surgeries, and dental procedures. Full-service hospitals have licensed and trained staff and do not require overnight or emergency on-call shifts.

Requirements

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree.
• State veterinary license in good standing.
• Appropriate state-specific licensing to perform all shift functions, including blood draws and vaccine administration.
• Professional liability insurance and a license defense policy.
• Compliance with all local, state, and federal mandates.
• DEA registration in good standing for relief shifts at full-service Vetco Total Care hospitals.

Responsibilities

• Provide veterinary care during relief shifts at Vetco Vaccination Clinics or Vetco Total Care hospitals.
• At vaccination clinics, perform basic wellness checks, vaccinations, heartworm testing, and microchip placement.
• At full-service hospitals, provide services such as preventive care, diagnostic workups, outpatient surgeries, and dental procedures.
• Perform all shift functions permitted by applicable state-specific licensing, including blood draws and vaccine administration.
• Comply with local, state, and federal mandates.
