About The Position

Vetco, a division of Petco, is seeking independent veterinary contractors to provide relief veterinary services. This role offers significant career flexibility, allowing veterinarians to choose their shifts, set their own rates, and achieve a strong work-life balance. Vetco focuses on making high-quality veterinary care accessible, operating both vaccination clinics and total care hospitals. The clinics are appointment-based and located within Petco retail stores, offering wellness exams, vaccinations, and preventive medications. The hospitals provide a broader range of services including preventive care, diagnostic workups, outpatient surgeries, and dental procedures, equipped with advanced technology and supported by licensed staff. There are no overnights or emergency on-call duties.

Requirements

Doctor of Veterinary Medicine state license in good standing
Appropriate state-specific licensing to perform all shift functions including the ability to perform blood draws & administer vaccines
Ability to provide Professional Liability Insurance + license defense policy
Compliance with all local state and federal mandates

DEA in good standing preferred for full-service Vetco Total Care hospital relief shifts

Responsibilities

Provide relief veterinary services at Vetco Vaccination Clinics, offering wellness examinations, preventive vaccinations and medications, heartworm testing, and microchip insertion.
Provide relief veterinary services at Vetco Total Care Hospitals, including preventive care, diagnostic workups, outpatient surgeries, and dental procedures.
Partner with the area medical director to review the comfort level of cases at Vetco Total Care Hospitals.
Deliver high-quality veterinary care and patient experience.
Focus on delivering the best care and patient experience possible, with trained staff managing operations.
