About The Position
Vetco, a division of Petco, is seeking independent veterinary contractors to provide relief veterinarian services. The position involves working at either Vetco Vaccination Clinics, which offer wellness exams, vaccinations, and preventive medications, or Vetco Total Care Hospitals, which handle preventive care, diagnostic workups, outpatient surgeries, and dental procedures. Both models utilize an appointment-based system to manage patient flow.
Requirements
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine state license in good standing.
- Appropriate state-specific licensing to perform all shift functions, including the ability to perform blood draws and administer vaccines.
- Ability to provide Professional Liability Insurance + license defense policy.
- Compliance with all local, state, and federal mandates.
Nice To Haves
- DEA in good standing preferred for full-service Vetco Total Care hospital relief shifts.
Responsibilities
- Provide relief veterinarian services at Vetco Vaccination Clinics and/or Vetco Total Care Hospitals.
- Conduct wellness examinations, administer preventive vaccinations and medications.
- Perform heartworm testing and microchip insertion at clinics.
- Handle preventive care, diagnostic workups, outpatient surgeries, and dental procedures at hospitals.
- Partner with the area medical director to review case comfort levels for hospital shifts.
- Deliver high-quality veterinary care and patient experience.
- Focus on patient care while staff manages operations.
