About The Position
Vetco, a division of Petco, is seeking independent veterinary contractors for relief veterinarian positions. This role offers significant career flexibility, allowing veterinarians to improve pet and pet parent lives by making high-quality veterinary care more accessible. Relief veterinarians can enjoy flexible online booking, choose their own shifts with no minimum or maximum requirements, and set their own rates. The appointment-based model and trained staff ensure efficient operations, allowing veterinarians to focus on patient care. Vetco offers two types of relief shifts: Vaccination Clinics, which focus on wellness exams, vaccinations, and preventive medications, and Total Care Hospitals, which include preventive care, diagnostic workups, outpatient surgeries, and dental procedures. Both models are supported by trained staff and operate on an appointment basis to manage traffic flow.
Requirements
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine state license in good standing.
- Appropriate state-specific licensing to perform all shift functions, including the ability to perform blood draws and administer vaccines.
- Ability to provide Professional Liability Insurance + license defense policy.
- Compliance with all local, state, and federal mandates.
Nice To Haves
- DEA in good standing preferred for full-service Vetco Total Care hospital relief shifts.
Responsibilities
- Deliver high-quality veterinary care.
- Perform wellness examinations, preventive vaccinations, and medications.
- Conduct heartworm testing and microchip insertion (at Vaccination Clinics).
- Perform diagnostic workups, outpatient surgeries, and dental procedures (at Total Care Hospitals).
- Partner with the area medical director to review case comfort levels (at Total Care Hospitals).
- Focus on delivering the best care and patient experience possible.
