About The Position
Petco Veterinary Services offers relief veterinarians flexible shifts at Vetco Total Care full-service veterinary hospitals. The role provides the opportunity to deliver veterinary care while trained hospital staff handle operational tasks. The appointment-based model helps manage patient flow and supports leaving on time. There are no overnight or emergency on-call shifts. Veterinarians can choose shifts through online scheduling, with no minimum or maximum shift requirement, and set their own rate for each shift. Veterinarians may continue practice activities outside Petco shifts, and no agency fees apply. The role also includes a 15% discount on Petco products and services. Vetco Total Care hospitals provide preventive care, diagnostic workups, outpatient surgeries, and dental procedures. Facilities include digital dental X-rays, Butterfly IQ+ Vet ultrasound imaging, and surgery suites with heated hydraulic surgery tables and full anesthesia monitoring. Licensed and trained hospital staff support care delivery. Ohio state bid rates average $106–$133 per hour; shift rates may vary by clinic location and selected shift duration.
Requirements
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine state license in good standing.
- Appropriate state-specific licensing to perform all shift functions, including blood draws and vaccine administration.
- DEA registration in good standing for full-service Vetco Total Care hospital relief shifts.
- Professional liability insurance and a license defense policy.
- Compliance with all local, state, and federal mandates.
