About The Position
Petco Veterinary Services is hiring a relief veterinarian for Vetco Total Care, a full-service veterinary hospital in Kettering, Ohio. The role provides veterinary care in a hospital that offers preventive care, diagnostic workups, outpatient surgeries, and dental procedures. Hospital equipment includes digital dental X-rays, Butterfly IQ+ Vet ultrasound imaging, and fully equipped surgery suites with heated hydraulic surgery tables and full anesthesia monitoring. Licensed and trained hospital staff support operations so veterinarians can focus on patient care. There are no overnight or emergency on-call shifts. Relief veterinarians can schedule shifts online and choose the shifts that fit their availability. There is no minimum or maximum number of shifts, and weekday and weekend hours are available. Veterinarians set their own rate for each shift, may continue practice activities outside Petco shifts, and are not charged agency fees. The appointment-based model helps manage patient flow and supports on-time departures. The role also includes access to monthly clinic updates and a 15% discount on Petco products and services. Ohio state bid rates average $106–$133 per hour; shift rates may vary by clinic location and shift duration.
Requirements
- Doctor of Veterinary Medicine state license in good standing.
- Appropriate state-specific licensing to perform all shift functions, including the ability to perform blood draws and administer vaccines.
- DEA registration in good standing for full-service Vetco Total Care hospital relief shifts.
- Professional Liability Insurance and a license defense policy.
- Compliance with all local, state, and federal mandates.
