About The Position

Petco is seeking relief veterinarians to work at Vetco Vaccination Clinics and Vetco Total Care full-service veterinary hospitals. Online scheduling lets veterinarians choose shifts that fit their lifestyle, with no minimum or maximum number of shifts and weekday and weekend hours available. Veterinarians set their own rate for each shift, may continue practicing outside Petco shifts, and pay no agency fees. The appointment-based model helps manage patient flow, while trained staff handle clinic operations so veterinarians can focus on care. There are no overnight or emergency on-call shifts at Vetco Total Care hospitals.

Vetco Vaccination Clinics provide basic wellness checks, vaccinations, heartworm testing, and microchip placement; they do not provide surgery, emergency, or illness care. These clinics are primarily located in Petco stores, with some operating from mobile vans. Vetco Total Care hospitals provide preventive care, diagnostic workups, outpatient surgery, and dental procedures. Hospital equipment includes digital dental X-rays, Butterfly IQ+ Vet ultrasound imaging, and equipped surgery suites.

The Colorado state bid rates average $89.00–$112.00 per hour. Shift rates may vary based on clinic location and shift duration.

Requirements

• Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree.
• State veterinary license in good standing.
• Appropriate state-specific licensing to perform all functions required during a shift, including blood draws and vaccine administration.
• DEA registration in good standing for relief shifts at Vetco Total Care full-service hospitals.
• Professional liability insurance and a license defense policy.

Responsibilities

• Provide veterinary care during selected relief shifts at Vetco Vaccination Clinics or Vetco Total Care hospitals.
• At vaccination clinics, perform basic wellness checks, vaccinations, heartworm testing, and microchip placement.
• At full-service hospitals, provide services that may include preventive care, diagnostic workups, outpatient surgeries, and dental procedures.
• Comply with applicable local, state, and federal mandates.
